Xishan District, part of Kunming, Yunnan Province, is one of the five main urban areas of Kunming and the political center of Yunnan Province. It is located on the northwestern shore of Dianchi Lake, west of Kunming. East of Dianchi, and Guandu District, Chenggong District across the water, and Wuhua District land connected to the northeast corner of Guandu District, Songming County adjacent. South of Jinning County, west of Anning, Lufeng, north with Fumin County border, with a total area of 881 square kilometers. As of 2020, Xishan District has 10 streets under its jurisdiction.In 2020, Xishan District had a household population of 576,400 people.
Xishan District is named after the West Mountain in its territory. According to Xishan District Records, in the second year of Yuanfeng of the Western Han Dynasty (109 BC), Yizhou County was established, and most of the area belonged to Guchang County. During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, it belonged to Jianning County and Jinning County successively, and it belonged to Kunzhou during the Sui Dynasty and the early Tang Dynasty. After the middle of the Tang Dynasty, the area belonged to Tuodong Jiedu and Shanshanxianfu, and in the Song Dynasty, it belonged to Shanshanxianfu. Most of the area was under the jurisdiction of Kunming County in 1953, after the establishment of the People's Republic of China.In 1956, the eight and nine districts of Kunming City were abolished and Xishan District was established.
In 2020, the gross regional product of Xishan District will be 90.398 billion yuan, an increase of 3.6% over the previous year, of which the added value of the primary industry will be 481 million yuan, and the added value of the secondary industry will be 15.223 billion yuan. The added value of the tertiary industry is 74.694 billion yuan, and the ratio of the structure of the three industries is 0.5:16.8:82.7.
