Shuimogou District, belonging to Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the northeast of Urumqi City, Xinjiang, with a total area of about 277.56 square kilometers. Shuimogou District belongs to the mesothermal continental arid climate zone. As of 2020, Shuimogou District had a resident population of 549,576 (7th Census). As of October 2021, 15 streets are under the jurisdiction of Shuimogou District. The district government is located in Qifang Street.
From the Qin Dynasty to the beginning of the Western Han Dynasty, the area of present-day Shuimogou District was a nomadic land of the Cheshi.In 1969, the name was changed to Shuimogou District. The main attractions include Hongshan Park, Shumogou Scenic Area, and Nanhu Civic Square.
As of 2020, the gross regional product of Shuimogou District has increased from 26.7 billion yuan to 38.066 billion yuan.
