Xiqing District, belonging to Tianjin City, is one of the four ring urban areas in Tianjin, located in the southwest of Tianjin City, downstream of the Haihe River Basin. It is adjacent to Hongqiao District, Nankai District, Hexi District and Jinnan District in the east, connected with Binhai New District in the southeast, separated from Jinghai District by Duliuzhi River in the south, bordering Wuqing District and Bazhou City of Hebei Province in the west, and bordering with Beichen District by Ziya River in the north, with a total area of 5,557 sq. kilometers.In 2022, the resident population of Xiqing District was 1,186,200 people. As of October 2022, Xiqing District has four streets and seven towns under its jurisdiction. The district government is located at No. 2, Fuqian Street, Yangliuqing Town.
In 1953, the former part of Tianjin County was analyzed and set up as Tianjin Jinxi Suburb District, while the part belonging to Jinghai County remained unchanged. 1962, it was still called Xi Suburb District relying on the territory originally assigned to Nankai District and the territory originally assigned to Tianjin Municipal District by Jinghai County of Hebei Province. 1992, it was changed to Xiqing District. Xiqing District is a national health city, a national civilized city, a national agricultural product quality safety county, a national digital countryside pilot area, the sixth batch of the country's first to basically realize the mechanization of the whole process of production of major crops demonstration counties, and a pilot county for the development of distributed photovoltaic roofs.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Xiqing District will be 94.661 billion yuan, down 1% year-on-year at comparable prices.
