Jinnan District, belongs to the city of Tianjin. Located in the southeastern part of Tianjin, the south bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Haihe River. It is bordered by Tanggu of Binhai New Area in the east, connected with Hexi and Xiqing Districts in the west, adjacent to Dagang of Binhai New Area in the south, and across the Haihe River from Dongli District in the north, with a total area of 387.84 square kilometers.In 2022, Jinnan District had a resident population of 924,300 people, and a household population of 573,000 people. As of October 2022, Jinnan District has three streets and eight towns under its jurisdiction.
In the Qing Dynasty, the area around Xianshuigu belonged to Jinghai County, while the area around Gegu and Xiaoyou Station belonged to Cangzhou.In 1950, Tianjin County was reorganized into seven districts, located in districts I, VI and VII.In 1953, the suburb of Jinnan was established, which was subordinate to the Tianjin Municipality.In 1992, it was renamed as Jinnan District.
In 2022, the GDP of Jinnan District decreased by 7.4% compared with the previous year. In terms of the three industries, the primary industry increased by 1.2% compared with the previous year; the secondary industry decreased by 6.1% compared with the previous year; and the tertiary industry decreased by 8.4% compared with the previous year.
