Shenchi County is a county under the jurisdiction of Xinzhou City. It is located in the Loess Plateau of northwest Jin, spanning between 111°-112°18′ east longitude and 38°56′-39°24′ north latitude. It has a total area of 1,472 square kilometers. Founded in the Spring and Autumn Period, it has a long history, neighboring Shuozhou in the northeast across the Inner Great Wall, bordering Ningwu County in the southeast and south respectively, adjoining Wuzhai County in the west, and bordering most of Yiguan County and part of Pinglu District in the north. Shenchi County is a typical agricultural county, with income mainly derived from planting and farming. The township enterprises and industrial base are weak. The main products are coal, cement and bauxite. According to the seventh census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, Shenchi County had a resident population of 75,757 people. On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 Comprehensive Demonstration County of E-commerce into Rural Areas" by the Ministry of Commerce.On April 18, 2019, the People's Government of Shanxi Province approved Shenchi County to withdraw from the poverty-stricken county. In July 2020, the National Sanitation Association recognized Shenchi County as the 2019 National Sanitation County. In 2019, Shenchi County realized a gross regional product of 310,345,000 yuan, primary industry added value of 119,206,000 yuan, secondary industry added value of 426,770,000 yuan, general public budget revenue of 169,080,000 yuan, and general public budget expenditure of 1,252,540,000 yuan.
