Gugiao, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province, administered by Taiyuan City, is located in central Shanxi Province, west-central Taiyuan City, at the eastern foot of the middle section of the Lvliang Mountain Range and the middle and upper reaches of the Fen River, with a continental climate in the north temperate zone, bordering seven districts and counties, and with a total area of 1,511.79 square kilometers. In the second year of the Tang Dynasty (691), Jiaocheng County was moved to the present village of Jiaocheng Chopo, and the original Jiaocheng was renamed Gujiao, which later evolved into Gujiao.
