Pinglu District, belonging to Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, with geographic coordinates between longitude 111′52′-112°41′ East and latitude 39°21′-39°58′ North. Located between the Great Wall in northwestern Jin and inside and outside the Great Wall, located in the northern border of Shanxi Province, with the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Qingshuihe, and Helinger border; southwest and Xinzhou City, Guan Guan, Shenchi counties adjacent to the south; south of Shuo City; east of Shanyin; northeast of the connection with the Right Yulin. The district is 69.5 kilometers long in the north and south, 67.9 kilometers long in the east and west, in the shape of a triangle, the district has a total land area of 2,314 square kilometers, with the jurisdiction of 2 towns, 10 townships, 352 administrative villages. According to the seventh census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Pinglu District is 148,212 people.
Pinglu District, formerly known as Pinglu County, in 1988 the State Council approved Shuozhou City as a prefecture-level city in Shanxi Province, changed the county to the jurisdiction of Shuozhou. It is known as "Shuo North Xiongcheng, Seibei Heavenly Danger".On September 7, 2018, the Shanxi Provincial Government officially approved the exit of Pinglu District as a provincial poverty-stricken county and announced it to the society.
In the first half of 2019, the gross regional product of Pinglu District totaled 11.33 billion yuan, an increase of 14% year-on-year.
