Pingding County, a county under the jurisdiction of Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, is located in the east-central part of Shanxi Province and the southeastern part of Yangquan City, at the western foot of the middle section of the Taihang Mountains, with a warm-temperate continental monsoon climate, bordering five counties and districts, and with a total area of 1,391 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Pingding County has 8 towns and 2 townships under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Pingding County was 303,600. The word "Pingding" comes from "Shijing - Daya - Jianghan", which means "the four directions are peaceful, the five countries are settled", meaning peace and stability. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), changed Pingding Prefecture for Pingding County; Republic of China thirty-five years (1946) in June, Pingdong County, Pingxi County merger, the establishment of Pingding (Lunan) County; Republic of China thirty-seven years (1948) in August, the Lunan and Lubei counties merged, the establishment of Pingding County; in August 1958, the withdrawal of the establishment of Pingding County, Yangquan City, Yangquan City, suburb of Yangquan City; in April 1961, the restoration of the establishment of Pingding County, belonging to the Jinhua County. In 2022, Pingding County realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 15.946 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.0%; total fiscal revenue of 1.241 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%; general public budget revenue of 747 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 35.4%; fixed-asset investment increased by 8% year-on-year; and disposable income per capita of all residents increased by 5.7% year-on-year.
