Puxian County, part of Linfen City, Shanxi Province, is located in the southwest of Shanxi Province, southwest of the Luliang Mountains.The county has a total area of 1,510.61 square kilometers. As of October 2019, Puxian has five towns and three townships under its jurisdiction, with the county government residing in Puxian Town.In 2022, Puxian had a resident population of 94,000 people.
During the Tang Yao period, it was named after Pu Yizi, the teacher of Emperor Yao, who lived here in seclusion. In the second year of Sui Daye (606), Puchuan County was changed to Puxian County, which was under the state of Xi'an, and in May 1971, it was changed to Linfen Regional Office, and on November 1, 2000, Linfen was abolished and established as a city, which was under Linfen City. Pu County has a warm temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons and simultaneous rain and heat. The Linwu First Class Highway runs through the whole territory of Pu County.In October 2017, Pu County was selected as one of the first batch of national experimental demonstration zones for sustainable agricultural development.In May 2019, the Shanxi Provincial People's Government approved the exit of poverty-stricken counties in Pu County.On October 9, 2020, Pu County was awarded the title of the fourth batch of national model cities and counties for the construction of ecological civilization by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Pu County will be 17.49 billion yuan, an increase of 12.8%. By industry, the added value of primary industry is 410 million yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 14.99 billion yuan; the added value of tertiary industry (service industry) is 2.09 billion yuan, and the structural ratio of the three industries is 2.4:85.7:11.9.
