Huangdao District, belongs to Qingdao City, Shandong Province. It is located in the southwest corner of Shandong Peninsula, the west of Qingdao City and the shore of Jiaozhou Bay. East of Jiaozhou Bay, and the main city of Qingdao across the sea, south of the Yellow Sea, north of Jiaozhou City, west of Zhucheng City and Rizhao City, with a total area of 2,128 square kilometers.In 2022, Huangdao District has a resident population of 1,993,500 people. As of June 2023, Huangdao District has 14 streets and 8 towns under its jurisdiction. The district government is located at 369 Middle Changjiang Road.
Huangdao District is named after Huangdao Island, which was established in 1979 after three communes in Jiaonan County were carved out of the district. 2012 saw the abolition of Huangdao District and the county-level Jiaonan City, and the establishment of Huangdao District. 2014 saw the establishment of the Qingdao West Coast New District, which is under the management system of "district and government unification" with Huangdao District. It is the earliest key area in Qingdao to open up to the outside world. The northern six streets of the district are the Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone (QEDZ), and Qingdao Qianwan Bonded Port Area and Dongjiakou Port are both located in Huangdao District.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Huangdao District was 469.185 billion yuan, an increase of 4.8% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 9.247 billion yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 168.37 billion yuan; the added value of tertiary industry is 291.569 billion yuan, and the structure of three industries is 1.97:35.89:62.14.
