Pingyin County, belonging to Jinan City, Shandong Province, also known as "Mecheng", is located in the western part of Shandong Province and the southwestern part of Jinan City, 60 kilometers away from the provincial capital, Jinan City, Tai'an City, Liaocheng City, the meeting point of the three cities of Jinan, Tai'an and Liaocheng City, east of the city of Feicheng in Tai'an City, the Yellow River and Liaocheng City across the river in the west and the city of Liaocheng County, south of the city of Tai'an City, Dongping County, north of the Changqing District. Pingyin was named after the ancient East Plain, which was located in the yin of the East Plain, and the name "Pingyin" was given to it.
