Shinan District, part of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, is located in the southern part of Qingdao city, starting from Tuan Island in the west and facing Huangdao District across the Jiaozhou Bay, extending to Maidao Island in the east and neighboring Laoshan District, and connecting with Shibei District in the north and the Yellow Sea in the south, with a total area of 30.01 square kilometers. As of October 2022, there are 11 streets under the jurisdiction of Shinan District. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Shinan District was 489,700 people.
Shinan District is the center city of Qingdao, and is the residence of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee and Qingdao Municipal People's Government. Qingdao Seaside Scenic Area is one of the first national scenic areas announced by the State Council in 1982. All of the waterfront of Shinan District is within the scope of the Scenic Area, which is the main part of the whole Qingdao Seaside Scenic Area, with nearly 50 tourist attractions. 80% of the tourist parks, famous buildings and former residences of celebrities within Qingdao are in Shinan District.
In 2022, Shinan District will realize a GDP of 149.636 billion yuan, of which the added value of the secondary industry will be 15.597 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry will be 134.038 billion yuan. The structure of the three industries will be adjusted to 10.4:89.6.
In 2023, Shinan District will realize a GDP of 157.797 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5% over the previous year.
