Datong Town, belonging to Jialing District, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, is located in the western part of Jialing District, neighboring Yili Town in the east, Yili Town in the southeast, Anping Town in the south, Daxing Township in the southwest, Liba Town and Jifeng Town in the northwest, Longbang Town in the north, and 20 kilometers away from the urban area of Jialing District, with a total area of 80.69 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, the registered population of Datong Township was 38,830. In the second year of Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty (1910), Datong Township was set up; in 1986, it was changed from Datong Commune to Datong Township.In October 2019, Tianxing Township and Xinmiao Township were abolished, and transferred to the jurisdiction of Datong Township. As of June 2020, Datong Township has 3 communities and 16 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, with the township's people's government stationed on Renmin East Street. As of the end of 2019, Datong Township has 10 industrial enterprises, of which 2 are above scale, and 27 general stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
