Pengzhou City, county-level city under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province, administered by Chengdu City, is located in the northwestern part of the Sichuan Basin, the northwest edge of the Chengdu Plain, bounded by the Longmen Ridge in the north and bordered by Wenchuan County and Mao County; in the south, it is separated by the Qingbaijiang River and Pixi District and Xindu District; in the northeast and southeast, it is adjacent to the city of Shifang City and Guanghan City; in the west it is connected to the city of Dujiangyan, with subtropical wet monsoon climate and a total area of 1,421.43 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Pengzhou City had a resident population of 780,100, with an urbanization rate of 55.53%. As of June 2023, Pengzhou City has 4 streets and 9 towns under its jurisdiction, with the Municipal People's Government stationed at No. 81, Jinpeng East Road, Tianpeng Street.
The territory of Pengzhou City was the land of Shu in ancient times. In the twenty-second year of King Zhao of Qin (285 years ago), Shu County was established in Shu, and counties were set up under the county. 1993, Peng County was abolished, and Pengzhou City (county level) was established. Pengzhou City is in the center of Chengdu-Demian economic zone, Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone development axis of the northwest regional cooperation center and the core area of Chengdu half-hour economic circle, Chengdu City, one of the planned development of the four new medium-sized industrial cities and Longmen Mountain Giant Panda National Forest Park ecotourism belt is an important component of the region. There are three AAAA-level tourist attractions in the city: Dajing Mountain Scenic Area, White Deer Music Town Tourist Attractions, and Baoshan Tourist Attractions.
In 2022, Pengzhou City realized a gross regional product of 63.892 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0% over the previous year, with a three-industry structure of 10.5:56.2:33.3, and a per capita gross regional product of 81,646 yuan.
