Jinjiang District (锦江区), a district of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is located in southeastern Chengdu, with a total area of 62 square kilometers, bordering Chenghua District (成华区) in the east, Wuhou District (武侯区) across the river in the west, Qingyang District (青羊区) in the northwest, Shuangliu District (双流区) in the south, and Longquanyi District (龙泉驿区) in the southeast. As of 2023, it has jurisdiction over 11 streets and 76 neighborhoods. The People's Government of the district is located at No. 1, Section 2, Third Ring Road. As of the end of 2022, the district had a resident population of 914,400, and the urbanization rate of the resident population was 100%.
Jinjiang District got its name Jinjiang. Jinjiang District belongs to the former county seat and suburbs of ancient Huayang County. Huayang County was formerly known as Shu County, which was set up in the 17th year of the Tang Dynasty (643). In 1921, Chengdu County and Huayang County were merged, and in 1928, Chengdu City became a provincial municipality, and Huayang County was transferred to the city's jurisdiction. 1953, Dongcheng District was established, and the former Huayang County was transferred to it. 1990, Dongcheng District was abolished, and the main part of the district was reorganized into Jinjiang District.
Jinjiang District is one of the central districts of Chengdu, with 282 headquarter economic enterprises and 320 cultural and creative industries. Shopping districts such as Chunxi Road, Chengdu International Finance Center and Chengdu Taikoo Li are all located in the district. The ecological environment is good, with the 3.3 square kilometer Egret Bay Ecological Wetland Park, which has been awarded the title of "Outstanding Environmental Management Project".
In 2022, Jinjiang District will realize a GDP of 130.419 billion yuan, a per capita disposable income of 57,629 yuan, and a general public budget revenue of 9.429 billion yuan.
