Tianping Township, belonging to Xiji County, Guyuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is located in the western part of Xiji County, bordering with Majian Township in the east, connected with Zhenhu Township in the southeast, adjacent to Ma Lu Township, Huining County, Gansu Province in the southwest, divided by Zhaoli Township, Huining County, Gansu Province in the west, and bordering with Xin Plateau Township, Huining County, Gansu Province in the northwest, and Hongyao Township in the north, and it is the junction of six townships of the two counties in the two provinces, and has an area of 168.73 square kilometers in the administrative region. As of the end of 2020, the household population of Tianping Township was 10,958.
In the Republic of China, the northern part belonged to Xinying Township, while the southern part belonged to Mengxuan Township Commune. in December 1983, it was changed from Tianping Commune to Tianping Township. As of October 2021, Tianping Township has 12 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the township people's government is located in Tianping Village.
In 2020, Tianping Township has one industrial enterprise and two general stores or supermarkets with business area of more than 50 square meters.
