Xiji County, belonging to Guyuan City of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is located in the south of Ningxia, at the western foot of Liupan Mountains. It lies between 105°20'-106°04' east longitude and 35°35'-36°14' north latitude. It is 67 kilometers long from east to west and 74 kilometers wide from north to south, 63 kilometers from Guyuan City in the east and 391 kilometers from Yinchuan City in Ningxia in the north, with a total area of 3,130 square kilometers. As of November 2020, Xiji County has 4 towns and 15 townships under its jurisdiction, with a resident population of 315,827 according to the seventh national census, and the county government is located in Jiqiang Town. Xiji County was established on October 10, 1942, and is the most populous county in Ningxia, a county inhabited by ethnic minorities, and a key county for poverty alleviation and development in the country and autonomous regions.
