Yuanbao District is part of Dandong City, Liaoning Province, and is the central urban area of Dandong City, bordering the Yalu River in the southeast, across the river from the city of Sinuiju in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, adjoining Zhen'an District along the foothills of the Pandawling Mountains in the northwest, bordering Zhenxing District in the southwest, and neighboring Jiu Liancheng Town in Zhen'an District along the Ai River in the northeast. Yuanbao District has a total area of 91.6 square kilometers, with the jurisdiction of one town, four street offices, 38 community committees and seven villagers' committees; according to the seventh population census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, Yuanbao District has a resident population of 202,325 people. In 2020, Yuanbaodu District as a whole completed a gross regional product of 6.41 billion yuan, a year-on-year decline of 3.1% at comparable prices.
