Tongshan District is located in northwestern Jiangsu Province, "C" shape around the main city of Xuzhou, the ancient name of the state of Dapeng, Qin Shihuang twenty-six years (221 BC) set Pengcheng County, the Qing Yongzheng eleven years, Xuzhou upgraded to the government, the prefectural government Pengcheng County, because of the territory of the island of Tongshan renamed Tongshan County, in 2010, the withdrawal of the county to set up districts. As of August 2023, Tongshan District has a total area of 1911.7 square kilometers. In 2021, Tongshan District governed 16 towns, 9 street offices and 1 national high-tech industrial development zone, 1 provincial-level economic development zone and 1 provincial-level Lvliang Mountain Tourism Resort. There are 298 villages (neighborhood) committees in the district. at the end of 2022, the district had a household population of 1,221,000 and a resident population of 1,120,700, with an urbanization rate of 57.71% for the resident population. In 2021, Tongshan District will actively build an innovation pattern of "one district, one corridor, one valley and one institute" with Xuzhou High-tech Zone, University Road Science and Technology Corridor, Science and Technology Innovation Valley and Industrial Technology Research Institute as the main body. The number of high-tech enterprises in the district has increased to 284, and there are 3 new state-level incubators, 6 provincial-level science and technology business incubators, 14 provincial-level zongchuang space, and the number of introduced bi-innovation talents and teams has ranked the first in the city for two consecutive years. The high-tech zone has been approved as a national security industry demonstration park and a national industry transformation demonstration zone. In 2022, Tongshan District will realize a GDP of 130.739 billion yuan. Tongshan District ranks 27th among the top 100 districts in China and 26th among the top 100 districts in China in terms of investment potential in terms of comprehensive strength.
