Rudong County, under the jurisdiction of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the southeastern part of Jiangsu Province, the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta. The county is neighboring Tongzhou District in the south, bordering Rugao City in the west, adjoining Haian City in the northwest, and bordering the Yellow Sea in the east and north. The land area is 2,122 square kilometers and the sea area is 4,965 square kilometers. Rudong is a representative of the salt reclamation culture of Jianghai. Before the Qin and Han dynasties, the county was a sandbar at the mouth of the Yangtze River, so it was called Fuhai Chau. Because of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and Huaihuai alluvial land, Rudong salt industry rose, pavilion field, to the Ming and Qing dynasties flourished for a while. After the Republic of China, the coast was gradually abolished and reclaimed. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, modern agriculture and fisheries were developed, and after opening to the outside world in 1988, the economy and society continued to develop, and Rudong County entered the top 100 counties in China.
