Jiawang District, part of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the northeast of Xuzhou, bordering Pizhou City to the east, Tongshan District to the south and northwest, and Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province to the north, with a total area of 612.13 square kilometers.
Jiawang District has a long history and was settled by human beings long before the Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, when water was abundant and grass was plentiful, a spring converged in the northeast to form Wang, and Jiawang was called Quancheng. The area was called "Jiawang" because of the large number of people with the Jia surname. In the eighth year of Guangxu (1882), Hu Enxie dug a well and built a mine in Jiawang, and Jiawang became a district because of the mine. In 1928, Jawang was established as a town under the jurisdiction of Tongshan County, Jiangsu Province, and in 1952, the Jawang Mining District of Xuzhou City was established, and in 1965, it was named Jawang District.
