Tieli City, belonging to Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, is named after the ancient Tieli Prefecture and Tieli Ministry. It is located at the southern foot of the Xiaoxinganling Mountains in Heilongjiang Province, China, spanning 140 kilometers from east to west and 115 kilometers from north to south. It has a land area of 6,620 square kilometers and a total population of 397,000 (2012). The municipal government is located in Tieli Town, and in September 1988, Tieli City was established after the approval of the State Council. 2011, it was awarded the title of "China's Most Valuable Tourism City for Investment"; in 2012, it was awarded the title of "National Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism Demonstration County" in China. Famous attractions include Riyuexia National Forest Park, Turon Mountain Scenic Area, Riyuexia Ski Resort, etc. In 2013, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Tieli City amounted to 7.8 billion yuan.
