Beilin District is the only municipal district in Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province, located in the central part of Heilongjiang Province. It is bordered by Suiling County and Hailun City in the north, Qing'an County in the east, Bayan County and Hulan District in Harbin City across the Mud River in the south, Lanxi County in the southwest, and Wangkui County in the west by the Hulan River and Nomin River. With an area of 2743 square kilometers and a total population of 880,000 (2010), the gross domestic product (GDP) of Beilin District realized 8.3 billion yuan in 2013, an increase of 13.5% compared with 2012. Fixed asset investment amounted to 6.46 billion yuan, an increase of 30% compared with 2012. Fiscal revenue was 74.08 million yuan, of which public budget revenue realized 421.11 million yuan, an increase of 33.8% and 20.7% respectively over 2012. Beilin District is the political, economic, cultural, transportation and geographic center of Suihua City, and is an important city in Harbin's one-hour economic circle.
