Mishan City is a county-level city belonging to Jixi City in Heilongjiang Province, located in the southeastern part of Heilongjiang Province. It is adjacent to Hulin City in the east, Xingkai Lake in the south and Russia in the south, neighboring Jixi City in the west, which is a major industrial area, and Qitaihe City in the north. It has Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve, Tiexi Nature Reserve, Honey Mountain and other tourist attractions. As of 2014, Mishan City has a population of 433,800 people in 7 towns and 9 villages. 2013, Mishan City's GDP amounted to 113.77 billion yuan; public finance revenue amounted to 21.37 billion yuan; fixed asset investment amounted to 4.59 billion yuan (as reported); the value-added of industries above designated size amounted to 1.83 billion yuan; the retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 2.95 billion yuan; and the per capita disposable income of urban residents amounted to 28,506,000 yuan. Mishan City is known as the cradle of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) launching medicine manufacturing industry, electrical appliances repair industry, armored soldiers and the People's Air Force, and the birthplace of the "Northern Great Wilderness Spirit". It is also a famous historical and cultural city, tourist city and ice culture city. It is a national strategic positioning of "border development and opening up the center city", "Northeast Asia regional center city" and "cooperation with Russia center city".
