Wudalianchi City is subordinate to Heihe City of Heilongjiang Province, located in the northwest of Heilongjiang Province, southwest of Heihe City, the transition zone between Xiao Xing'anling and Songnen Plain. It is adjacent to Xunker County in the east, Keshan County, Nehe City and Wudalianchi Scenic Area in the west, Beian City and Kedong County in the south, Sunwu County in the north, and Nenjiang County in the northwest across the river, 263 kilometers away from Heihe downtown. The predecessor of Wudalianchi City was the former Dedu County, which was established in 1963. 1983, Wudalianchi Town, which belonged to the former Dedu County, was set up as an administrative area, and the former Wudalianchi City was established. 1996, the former Dedu County and the former Wudalianchi City were merged to set up the new Wudalianchi City, which was transferred to the jurisdiction of Heihe City, the former Dedu County was abolished, and the Scenic Spot Management Bureau was set up in the former Wudalianchi City area, and the City of Wudalianchi took over the administration. 2000, the Management Bureau was abolished.
