Fugou County, anciently known as Tongqiu, belongs to Zhoukou City, Henan Province, and is located in the northwestern part of Zhoukou City, between longitude 114°23′ and 115°48′ east and latitude 34°4′ and 36°2′ north, with a total area of 1,173 square kilometers, and a warm temperate continental monsoon climate. As of October 2021, Fugou County has 2 streets, 8 towns and 6 townships under its jurisdiction. The county people's government is located in Tongqiu Street. As of the end of 2021, the resident population of Fugou County was 558,700, making it the county with the smallest resident population in Zhoukou City.
Fugou County is named "Fugou" because there is Futing in the east and Weishui Ditch in the west of the county, each of which takes a character.
