Qinyang city, county-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, administered by Jiaozuo City, is located in the northern part of Henan Province and the northwestern part of Jiaozuo City, situated in the alluvial plains of the Yellow River (Qinhe) and the southern foothills of the Taihang Mountains, with a warm-temperate continental climate, and adjoining five counties (municipalities), with a total area of 623.5 square kilometers. Qinyang City was named after the city of Qinyang, which was located in the territory of Huaiqing Prefecture in ancient times and was once ruled by Hanoi County.
