Weidong District, belonging to Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, is located in the eastern part of Pingdingshan City, in the transition zone between the remaining veins of the Waifang Mountains and the Yellow-Huaihai Plain, with the geographic coordinates of longitude 113°18'~113°28' and latitude 33°38'~33°49' north, east and southeast of the city and Ye County, the south of Zhanhe River and Zhanhe District, west of the junction with the Xinhua District, the northwestern and Baofeng County, neighboring Jia County in the north and Xiangcheng County in the northeast, with a total area of 101.06 square kilometers and, as of 2020, 12 streets, 34 communities and 24 administrative villages. According to the seventh population census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, Weidong District had a resident population of 315,705 people. In 2013, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Weidong District amounted to 10.8 billion yuan, an increase of 5.3% from 2012.
