The name of Bazhou was taken from the meaning of Wei Lie to indicate martial arts. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Bazhou was changed to Bazhou County; in October 1949, it was changed to the jurisdiction of Tianjin Prefecture in Hebei Province; in 1974, it was changed to the jurisdiction of Langfang District in Hebei Province; in 1988, it was under the jurisdiction of Langfang City; in 1990, Bazhou County was abolished and Bazhou City was established, with Langfang City acting as its manager.
