Wei County, a county under the direct financial control of Hebei Province, is part of Handan City, Hebei Province. It is located in the south of Hebei Province and the southeast of Handan City. It is bordered by Guangping County in the north, Cheng'an and Linzhang counties in the west, Daming County in the east, and Anyang, Neihuang, Qingfeng, and Nanle counties in the south, with a total area of 863.6 square kilometers.In 2020, Wei County had a total population of 1,041,100 people, with 24 ethnic groups. As of January 2023, Wei County has 17 towns and 4 townships under its jurisdiction. The county people's government is located at 68 East Wei Zhou Road. Qin, set up Thorny Pope County. In Jin, the northern part of Wei County was divided to set up Guangping County.In July 1993, Handan prefecture and city merged, and Wei County was reclassified as Handan City.On September 29, 2018, the People's Government of Hebei Province approved the withdrawal of Wei County from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.
