Xinglong County, belonging to the city of Chengde, Hebei Province, is located in the northeastern part of Hebei Province, the southernmost part of Chengde, the eastern part of the Yanshan Mountains, the north side of the ancient Great Wall. It lies between 40°11′-41°42′ north latitude and 117°12′-118°15′ east longitude, with the Beijing-Chengde Railway running through the whole territory of Xinglong from west to north, and the Chengtang Expressway traversing the whole territory from north to south. As of October 2022, Xinglong County has 15 towns and 5 townships under its jurisdiction with a total area of 3,116 square kilometers. As of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the total population of 271,628 people (the seventh census of the resident population). The county government is located in Xinglong Township.
Xinglong County was founded in the Republic of China in 1929, is a typical "nine mountains, half water, half field" of the mountainous counties. Within the territory of Wuling Mountain National Nature Reserve, Liuliping National Forest Park, Jiulongtan Natural Scenic Area, such as the majestic and beautiful mountain landscape and canyons, water streams and geologic tourism resources. Xinglong County is also the national "hawthorn township" and "chestnut township".
In 2021, the gross regional product of Xinglong County was 12.56 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2% year-on-year, ranking first in the city. Among them: the added value of primary industry is 2.66 billion yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 4.39 billion yuan, the added value of tertiary industry is 5.51 billion yuan, and the ratio of the structure of three industries is 21.2:34.9:43.9.
