Meitan County, belongs to Zunyi City, Guizhou Province. It is located in the northern part of the Guizhou Plateau and the eastern part of Zunyi City, neighboring Fenggang and Yuqing counties to the east, Baozhou District and Suiyang County to the west, and connecting with urnan county to the south and zhengan county to the north, with a total area of 1,845 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Meitan County has 3 streets and 12 towns under its jurisdiction.In 2022, Meitan County had a household population of 517,600 and a resident population of 371,800 people.
Meitan is named after the Meijiang River and Meshui River, which flow upside down and converge into an abyss south of the county seat, curving around like an eyebrow. In the Sui Dynasty, Yi Quan County was set up. Later abolished. In 1997, the abolition of the Zunyi region was transformed into Zunyi City, Meitan County is subordinate to Zunyi City.On September 25, 2018, the People's Government of Guizhou Province approved the withdrawal of Meitan County from the poverty-stricken counties. Meishi Expressway, National Highway 326, Provincial Highway 204, Hangzhou-Ruili Expressway, Yinbai Expressway (Dao'an Expressway), and National Highway 243 pass through Meitan County.
