Mashan County, belonging to Nanning City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located in the north-central part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the north of Nanning City, the south bank of the middle part of Hongshui River, and the north foothill of Daming Mountain. It lies between longitude 107°42′38″～108°30′00″ East and latitude 23°24′06″～24°02′06″ North. It borders with Shanglin County and Xincheng County of Laibin City in the east, Wuming District in the south, Pingguo City of Baise City and Dahua Yao Autonomous County of Hechi City in the west, and Du'an Yao Autonomous County of Hechi City in the north across the Hongshui River. The county area is an irregular long shape that stretches from east to west and narrows from north to south, with a maximum horizontal distance of 82 kilometers from east to west and a maximum vertical distance of 71 kilometers from north to south, and the border with the neighboring counties has a total length of 412.27 kilometers. The total area of Mashan County is 2340.76 square kilometers. According to the seventh census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Mashan County was 382,430 people. Mashan County is an ancient part of the Baiyue region.In July 1951, Longshan County and Nama County were merged to establish Mashan County, which was under the Binyang Prefecture.In December 2002, the State Council decided to abolish the Nanning Prefecture, and in June 2003, it came under the jurisdiction of Nanning Municipality. As of June 2020, Mashan County has 7 towns and 4 townships under its jurisdiction, and the county people's government is located in Baishan Town.
