Liunan District, Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located in the southwestern part of Liuzhou City, the terrain is high in the west and low in the east, the climate is early in the spring and late in the autumn, long in the summer and short in the winter; the total area is 541.37 square kilometers, with three towns and eight streets under its jurisdiction; according to the seventh population census data, as of zero hour on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Liunan District was 617,925 people.
Liunan District is adjacent to Yufeng Mountain in the east; Dalongtan in the south; and Dagoshan and Wenpenfeng in the west. There is the tomb of Liu Ben (bēn), the left counselor of the Tang Dynasty, the Liu Family Compound and the former residence of Hu Zhiming. The Liuzhou Railway Station in the district is an important railroad hub connecting Southwest China with Central and South China, East China and South China, where Xianggui, Qiangui and Jiao Liu Railway and Hengyu-Liu High-speed Railway and Liu Nan Passenger Dedicated Line (Liu Nan Intercity Railway) intersect, and the main roads in the district form a network with Nan Liu, Guiliu, Yiliu and Huancheng Expressway.
In 2020, the gross domestic product of Liunan District finished at 60.068 billion yuan, a year-on-year decline of 9.6% at comparable prices.
On February 2, 2019, it was named a county-level national advanced unit of grassroots Chinese medicine work by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
