Fangchenggang City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located in the south of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the southwesternmost tip of the coastline of mainland China, between latitude 20°36'~22°22'N and longitude 107°28'~108°36'E, south of the Tropic of Cancer, with subtropical oceanic monsoon climate, and covers a total area of 6,242.94 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Fangchenggang had a resident population of 1,059,100. As of June 2023, Fangchenggang City has 2 districts and 1 county under the jurisdiction of Fangchenggang City, with 1 county-level city in its place, and the municipal government is stationed in the administrative center area of Gongche Town, Port District. During the pre-Qin period, the territory of Fangchenggang City belonged to the land of Baiyue (Guangdong).
