Gulang County, a county under the jurisdiction of Wuwei City, Gansu Province, is located at the eastern end of the Hexi Corridor, the main hub of the ancient Silk Road, Gulang Tibetan short for Gurlang Wow, which means a place infested with yellow sheep.
In April 2021, Gulang County has a total area of 5,046 square kilometers, connected with Jingtai County of Baiyin City and Tianzhu Tibetan Autonomous County of Wuwei City in the southeast respectively, bordering Liangzhou District of Wuwei City in the northwest, and adjacent to Tengger Desert in the north, which is the confluence of the three major plateaus of Qinghai-Tibet, Mongolia-New Zealand and Loess. According to the seventh census data, as of zero hour on November 1, 2020, Gulang County has a resident population of 250,177 people.
Gulang County has obvious location advantages, and has been famous for its important geographic location of "post road leading to the three auxiliaries, and the gorges controlling the five cools" since ancient times. Lianhuo Expressway G30 line, National Highway 312 line, Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway across the north and south, provincial highway 308 line, 316 line, Ying Shuang Expressway, Ganwu Railway across the east and west, Lianggu Road, Jingu Road, the sea road, ten roads and other county roads together to build a convenient transportation road network.
Gulang has a long history and culture, as early as four thousand years ago in the Neolithic era, there are the first people flourished. The county was first established in the second year of Yuanhari of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty (121 B.C.). Early Ming Dynasty to the water name "Gurlangwa" (Tibetan, meaning yellow sheep ditch) crown county name Gurang. Among them: the added value of primary industry was 1.798 billion yuan, up 6.4%; the added value of secondary industry was 1.11 billion yuan, down 7%; the added value of tertiary industry was 2.198 billion yuan, up 3.3%. The proportion of primary, secondary and tertiary industries in GDP of the county is 35.21:21.74:43.05.
