Taiping Town, belonging to Xinxing County, Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southeastern part of Xinxing County, close to Xinxing County, bordering Kaiping and Enping, bordering with Nimcun Town in the east, bordering with Gongcheng Town in the south, bordering with Integration Town and Xincheng Town in the west, and bordering with Dongcheng Town in the north. The total area of the jurisdiction is 154.89 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, Taiping Township had a household population of 63,201. In August 1955, the third district was renamed Shangsha District, with 22 townships under its jurisdiction, including Shangsha.In August 1983, the community was abolished to form a district known as Shangsha District.In March 1987, the district was abolished to form a township, and its name was changed to Taiping Township.
