Conghua District, part of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northeastern part of Guangzhou City, bordering Zengcheng District and Longmen County of Huizhou City to the east, Baiyun and Huangpu Districts to the south, Huadu and Qingyuan Districts to the west, and Fogang County of Qingyuan City and Xinfeng County of Shaoguan City to the north. The Tropic of Cancer crosses the southern end of Taiping Town, which has a mild climate and abundant rainfall. The total area is 1,985 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Conghua District had a total household population of 659,756, an urban population of 216,289, a rural population of 443,467, and a resident population of 739,700. As of October 2022, Conghua District has 3 streets and 5 towns under its jurisdiction. The People's Government of Conghua District is stationed at No. 99, Xincheng East Road, Jiekou Street.
Qing Dynasty inherited the Ming system, Conghua County was under the Guangzhou Prefecture.In January 1959, it was changed to the Foshan Commissioner's Office.On February 12, 2014, the county-level Conghua City was abolished, and the Conghua District of Guangzhou City was established, with the administrative area of the former Conghua City as the administrative area of Conghua District. Conghua District is famous for its rare hot springs, known as the "Hot Springs Capital of China", and known as the "Pearl on the Tropic of Cancer" and the "Back Garden of Guangzhou". There are more than 100 lakes and reservoirs, 120,000 hectares of green hills, and 67.2% of the area is covered by forest. There are nearly 20 tourist attractions, including Bishuiwan Hot Spring Resort, Guangzhou Pumped Storage Power Plant Tourist Resort and other national 4A and 3A tourist attractions, Liuxi River National Forest Park, Shimen National Forest Park, Liuxi Hot Spring Tourist Resort and Pumped Storage Power Plant Tourist Area and other four key eco-tourism zones in Guangzhou, as well as the Guangyu Ancestral Temple, Wuyue Temple and other national and provincial important cultural relics protection units, as well as the New Stone Age Lutian Lion and Elephant Rock Habitat Remains, numerous ancient village relics and monuments from the Ming Dynasty, the world's tallest Tropic of Cancer Marker Tower and a number of other cultural landscapes.
In 2023, Conghua District achieved a GDP of 42.448 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%.
