Mazhang District, a district of Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, is located in southwestern Zhanjiang, in the northern part of the Leizhou Peninsula. As of 2019, Ma Zhang District has four towns, three streets, and one farm under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 878 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Ma Zhang District was 334,500.
The name "Ma Zhang" is derived from the abundance of sisal and octopus. Ma Zhang District was formerly known as Zhanjiang City suburb, in October 1994, the suburb was renamed Ma Zhang District. Ma Zhang is the southwest exit gateway to Zhanjiang City, Zhanjiang is the transportation hub of Zhanjiang, Zhanjiang to Hainan, southwest of the throat of the fortress, Guangdong Railway, National Highway 325, Provincial Highway 374, Guangzhan and Yu Zhan Expressway and so on through the Ma Zhang, Ma Zhang, ecological and good, rich in South subtropical agricultural resources, flowers and trees, beautiful scenery, there are AAAA level tourist attractions such as Lake Rock.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Ma Zhang District (preliminary accounting number) 20.657 billion yuan, an increase of 1.6%. Among them, the primary industry added value of 3.169 billion yuan, an increase of 10.8%, contributing to the growth of the gross regional product of 99.2%; the secondary industry added value of 7.332 billion yuan, a decline of 0.5%, contributing to the growth of the gross regional product of -11.1%; the tertiary industry added value of 10.156 billion yuan, an increase of 0.4%, contributing to the growth of the gross regional product of 11.9%. The structure of the three industries was 15.3:35.5:49.2. GDP per capita was 61,773 yuan, up 3.3%.
