Introduction
Mazhang District, a district of Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, is located in southwestern Zhanjiang, in the northern part of the Leizhou Peninsula. As of 2019, Ma Zhang District has four towns, three streets, and one farm under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 878 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Ma Zhang District was 334,500. The name "Ma Zhang" is derived from the abundance of sisal and octopus. Ma Zhang District was formerly known as Zhanjiang City suburb, in October 1994, the suburb was renamed Ma Zhang District. The structure of the three industries was 15.3:35.5:49.2. GDP per capita was 61,773 yuan, up 3.3%.
