Chikan District, belongs to Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. Is the center of Zhanjiang City, Zhanjiang Municipal Party Committee, the seat of the municipal government, is located in the southwest of Guangdong Province, the northeastern tip of the Leizhou Peninsula. East and Potou District across the sea, south and Xiashan District connected to the west and Ma Zhang District, north and Suixi County adjacent to a total area of 79 square kilometers, the sea area of 8.97 square kilometers, the mainland coastline length of 14.59 kilometers. As of June 2023, Chikan District has 8 streets under its jurisdiction. Chikan, anciently known as Chikan Harbor, is also known as Chikan Port. In 1968, Chikan District was established under the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang City. It is a prosperous harbor and commercial port in Zhanjiang bay area from Qing Dynasty to 300 years of the Republic of China, and is the source of Zhanjiang city. It is a national model county for natural resources saving and intensification, a national standard county for water-saving society construction, and a national basic balanced zone for compulsory education development. In 2021, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Chikan District amounted to 35.808 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of primary industry was 131 million yuan, and the added value of secondary industry was 7.728 billion yuan. The added value of the tertiary industry was 27.948 billion yuan, an increase of 8.6% over the previous year.
