Lechang City, alias Tucheng, county-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, by the Shaoguan City, is located in the north of Shaoguan City, adjacent to Hunan Province, known as the "northern gate of Guangdong", with a total area of 2,419 square kilometers, the area and population are ranked first in Shaoguan.At the end of 2021, Lechang City, the household population of 525,900 people. As of October 2021, Lechang City has 1 street and 16 towns under its jurisdiction. The city government is located in Lechang Street.
With a history of more than 1,500 years, Lechang is known as the "Thousand-Year Tuo City". Southern Liang Tianjian seven years (508 years) set up Lianghua County, Sui Kaihuang eighteen years (598 years) due to the territory of Le Shi, Changshan two mountains and renamed Lechang County, in 1994 the county set up a city (county-level). As for the traditional culture of Lechang, the Lechang Flower Drum Opera, Lechang Fishing Drum, Jufeng Mountain Song, and (Lion Dance) Frog Lion are included in the list of provincial intangible cultural heritage protection projects. Lechang City has Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Wu-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, Lechang-Guangzhou Expressway and Provincial Highway 248 running through its territory. The Wuhan-Guangzhou High Speed Railway has set up Lechang East Station.
In 2021, the Gross Regional Product (preliminary accounting number) of Lechang City was 13.771 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 9.5% at comparable prices, and a two-year average growth of 6.3%.
