Jiaoling County, formerly known as Zhenping County, the county under the jurisdiction of Meizhou City, the Central Soviet Union County, located in the northeastern part of Guangdong Province, the upper reaches of the Han River, the junction of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi, connected with Pingyuan County in the west, bordering Meixian District of Meizhou City in the southeast, and adjoining Wuping County and Shanghang County of Fujian Province in the north, with the National Highway 205 and the Tianshang Expressway running through the north and the south, the county has a total area of 961.64 square kilometers, and has jurisdiction over the following towns: Jiaocheng, Changtan, Sanzhen, Xinpu, Wenfu, Guangfu, Lanfang, Nanjian 8 towns, the county is surrounded by mountains on all sides, tilted from north to south, of which there are 1.134 million mu of mountainous land, 115,000 mu of arable land, rivers, lakes, water and other areas of 187,000 acres, it is the "National Greening Model County", but also the world's longevity townships, the former Central Soviet Union County, China's ecological civilization county, the National Rural Comprehensive Reform Demonstration County, Guangdong Province, the sustainable development of the county, and the county is the most important county of China. Jiaoling County was formerly known as Zhenping County. In the second year of Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty (1369), the Meizhou Road was abolished, and the county was renamed Chengxiang County, which was subordinate to Chaozhou Prefecture.In February 1956, the Shantou Specialized Office was established, and the Yuedong Office was abolished. On July 1, 1965, Meixian Prefecture was separated from Shantou Prefecture and Meixian District was established, and Jiaoling County was under the jurisdiction of Meixian District; in the spring of 1988, Meixian District was abolished and Meizhou City was established, and Jiaoling County was under the jurisdiction of Meizhou City.
Jiaoling is one of the key Taiwanese townships in Guangdong, with about 600,000 Taiwanese of Jiaoling ancestry, and is a national key Taiwanese township and a cross-strait exchange base in Guangdong Province. It has produced outstanding figures such as Lan Kui, the first scholar from Meizhou in the Song Dynasty, Qiu Fengjia, a poet and educator who was an anti-Japanese Taiwan preservationist in the late Qing Dynasty, as well as Zhong Menghong, Luo Fuxing, Lin Xiuming, Xie Jinyuan, Lin Paixen, Qiu Chengtong, Qiu Yingnan, and Deng Jiadong.
In 2023, the gross regional product of Jiaoling County was 11.437 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.6%.
