Leicheng District, belongs to Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It is located in the Quanzhou Plain in the lower reaches of the Jinjiang River, between longitude 118°29′~118°37′ east and latitude 24°52′~24°56′ north. It has a southern subtropical maritime monsoon climate, which is warm and humid all year round, so it is called Wenling, with a land area of 53.74 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Li Cheng District was 398,000 people. As of June 2023, Leicheng District has eight streets under its jurisdiction, with the district people's government stationed at No. 24, Zhuangfu Lane, Seaside Street.
Tang Kaiyuan six years (718), the analysis of Nan'an County set Jinjiang County. 1950, the analysis of Jinjiang County set up the city of Quanzhou. 1985, the city of Quanzhou changed to set up the city of Leicheng District. 1997, the city of Leicheng District adjusted to the city of Leicheng, Fengze District, Luojiang District. It is one of the central districts of Quanzhou City, named after the ancient city which resembles a carp. 1300 years, Leicheng has been the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of the Jinjiang River Basin and even a larger geographical area in the past dynasties. It is one of the first batch of 24 famous historical and cultural cities in China announced by the State Council, the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, a collection of religious, humanistic and artistic treasures, known as the "Seaside Zulu", "this place is known as the Buddha's country, full of saints in the street" reputation. Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Manichaeism and other precious cultural monuments in the district, with the Kaiyuan Temple, Qingjing Temple, Tianhou Palace, Fuwen Temple, the Deji Gate ruins and other national key cultural relics protection units, Nanyin, Liyuan Opera, Gaojia Opera, string puppetry, breast-beating dance and other precious ancient culture and art has a long history.
In 2023, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Li Cheng District realized 56.783 billion yuan, an increase of 8.4% year-on-year.
