Wanzhou District, belongs to Chongqing Municipality. It is located at the eastern edge of the Sichuan Basin and the northeastern edge of Chongqing Municipality. It is neighboring Yunyang County in the east and Zhong County and Liangping District in the west. It borders Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County in the south and Lichuan City in Hubei Province, and is connected to Kaizhou District and Kaijiang County in Sichuan Province in the north, with a total area of 3,453 square kilometers.In 2022, Wanzhou District had a resident population of 1,564,300 people and a total household population of 1,708,200 people. As of October 2022, Wanzhou District has 14 streets, 27 towns and 11 townships under its jurisdiction. The People's Government of Wanzhou District is located at No. 2, Jiangnan Avenue, Chenjiaba Street. Wanzhou District, named for "Wanchuan Bihui" and famous for "Wanshang Yunjie".In 1992, Wanxian District, Wanxian County and Wanxian City were abolished, and the former Wanxian County District was established as the prefecture-level city of Wanxian City.In 1997, the city of Wanxian County and its Longbao District and Tiancheng District were abolished, Wuqiao District, the establishment of Chongqing Wanxian District. At the same time, Chongqing Wanxian Migration Development Zone was established, with six counties, namely Kaixian, Zhongxian, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wushan, and Wuxi, under its jurisdiction. 1998, Wanxian Migration Development Zone and Wanxian District were renamed Wanzhou Migration Development Zone and Wanzhou District. 2000 saw the abolition of Wanzhou Migration Development Zone, and the counties under its jurisdiction were put under the direct administration of Chongqing Municipality. In 2022, the gross regional product of Wanzhou District was 111.843 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5% over the previous year. By industry, the added value of primary industry is 11.497 billion yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 32.531 billion yuan; the added value of tertiary industry is 67.816 billion yuan, and the ratio of the structure of three industries is 10.3:29.1:60.6.
