Built in 1938, St. Francis of Assisi Church was designed mainly in the Baroque style of the main churches in Macau. The exterior of the church is mainly in cream color, with oval windows and a bell tower. In front of the church is a monument to the victory over the pirates, built in 1910, and inside the church are some of the holiest relics in Asia, including a silver casket containing the arm bones of St. Francis of Assisi, who died in 1552 on the island of Sangkawan, seventy kilometers away from Macao, after having been a missionary in Japan and intending to enter China.
