Dangtu County, belonging to Maanshan City, Anhui Province, is located in the eastern part of Anhui Province, the south bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, east of Maanshan City, Bowang District and Shishu Lake, to the lake in the middle of the river and the junction of Lishui District in Nanjing City, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, and Gaochun District; the west border of the Yangtze River, and Maanshan City, and the County of the Yangtze River; south of the Hatue River, Wuhu City, Wuhu City, Bay Islet District and Xuancheng City, Xuanzhou District, border; north of the Yu Shan District of Maanshan City, adjoining. It lies between longitude 118°21′38″-118°52′44″E and latitude 31°17′26″-31°36′05″N, with a total area of 1002 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Dangtu County has 10 towns and 1 township under its jurisdiction, and another 3 functional areas. As of the end of 2022, Dangtu County had a household population of 474,600. Dangtu is a city of culture inherited for thousands of years. With a history of more than 2,200 years, the county was established as Danyang County in the Qin Dynasty, and was named Dangtu in the ninth year of the Kaihuang reign in Sui Dynasty (589). Historically, the county was the seat of Taiping Prefecture in the Song Dynasty, Taiping Prefecture in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Yangtze River Naval Division in the Qing Dynasty, and the Anhui Academy and Governmental Administration, and it has the ancient Jinzhu Pagoda, Huangshan Pagoda, Lingyun Pagoda, and the well-preserved ancient moat. Since ancient times, this place has been favored by literati and writers, and Xie Wu, a great poet of the Southern Dynasty, called it "Landscape Capital". Zhou Xingsi, a talented scholar from Dangtu in the Southern Dynasty, wrote the Chinese classic "Thousand Character Classic" in one night. The poet Li Bai traveled to Dangtu seven times and wrote 56 ancient songs such as "Looking at Tianmen Mountain", settled in Dangtu in his later years, and ended up sleeping in the green mountains. Li Zhiyi, a famous lyricist of the Northern Song Dynasty, wrote the classic poem "I live at the head of the Yangtze River, you live at the tail of the Yangtze River; I think about you every day, but I don't see you, and we drink the water of the Yangtze River together", which has been sung for thousands of years. In 2022, Dangtu County will realize a GDP of 55.865 billion yuan, divided into industries, the primary industry added value of 3.814 billion yuan, the secondary industry added value of 28.636 billion yuan tertiary industry added value of 23.414 billion yuan. The proportion of the three industries was 6.8:51.3:41.9. Based on the household population (excluding the city demonstration park), the county's per capita GDP amounted to 128,146 yuan (equivalent to 19,052 U.S. dollars).
