Sanshan District (has been abolished, and into the Yijiang District), under the Wuhu City, Anhui Province, is approved by the State Council in February 2006, the establishment of the new city of Wuhu, is located in the south of the Yangtze River, the central part of the city of Wuhu, Li is one of the main road into the mountains of southern Anhui Province. Sanshan Economic Development Zone in the northwestern part of Sanshan District is a centralized demonstration park for Wuhu to undertake industrial transfer, and at the same time, it is the starting area of the demonstration zone for undertaking industrial transfer in the Wanjiang City Belt.
As of 2015, Sanshan District has an area of 319.8 square kilometers and a resident population of 150,000 people. It is a key city and an important economic growth pole of the Yangtze River City Belt, as well as an open city along the river approved by the State Council to enjoy the opening-up policy of the national coastal area and a window for reform and opening-up of Anhui Province.
In 2020, the State Council approved the revocation of the Sanshan District and Yijiang District of Wuhu City in Anhui Province and the establishment of the new Yijiang District of Wuhu City, with the administrative areas of the former Sanshan District and the former Yijiang District as the administrative areas of the new Yijiang District.
