Huoshan County, part of Lu'an City, Anhui Province, is located in western Anhui, in the hinterland of the Dabie Mountains, and in the upper reaches of the Luxe River, a first-class tributary of the Huaihe River, with a total area of 2,043 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Huoshan County has 13 towns and 3 townships under its jurisdiction, as well as a development zone. As of the end of 2023, Huoshan County had a resident population of 283,000 people.
The county was established in the fifth year of Yuanfeng of the Han Dynasty (106 BC), and was first called Huoshan County in the Sui Dynasty. Huoshan County has more than 6,500 species of living organisms and 1,793 species of Chinese herbs, among which the "soft gold" Dendrobium Huoshan ranks first among the "Nine Immortal Herbs of China" and has been successfully used in food and medicine.On June 21, 2012, Wu Bangguo, the then chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, investigated the Dabie Mountain Revolutionary Committee. Wu Bangguo investigated the old revolutionary area of Dabie Mountain, inscribed "Huoshan Dendrobium - Chinese treasure". Huoshan Dabie Mountain Medicine Bank was named as the national level Chinese medicine health tourism demonstration base. Huoshan yellow buds as early as in the Tang Dynasty was worshipped as the imperial tribute tea, now and Huangshan, Huangmei opera and called "Anhui three yellow", twice included in the protection list of the Agreement on Geographical Indications in China and Europe, was evaluated as the hometown of yellow tea in China. It is the first national demonstration area of regional tourism, and the national "two mountains" theory innovation and practice base.
In 2023, Huoshan County will realize a gross domestic product (GDP) of 22.01 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry will be 2.46 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry will be 9.79 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry will be 9.75 billion yuan. The structure of the three industries is 11.2︰44.5︰44.3. Based on the resident population (283,000 people) in 2022, the per capita GDP will be 77,760 yuan.
