The Huoshan Economic Development Zone in Anhui was established in July 2002 and was approved as a provincial-level development zone in April 2006. Located east of Huoshan County, the zone enjoys a strategic geographical location. The Jiguang Expressway and National Highway 105 run through the zone, and it is 40 kilometers from the Ningxi and He-Wu high-speed rail lines as well as the Lu’an Railway Station, and 70 kilometers from Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, ensuring convenient access to external transportation networks. The park has a planned area of 20.6 square kilometers, with a built-up area of 13 square kilometers.
The Anhui Huoshan Economic Development Zone emphasizes ecological characteristics, with projects primarily focused on high-tech industries, green food processing, and other eco-friendly industrial initiatives. A number of leading industries have taken shape, including electric lighting, automotive and motorcycle parts, building materials, high-end textiles, and the processing of agricultural by-products and green foods. In 2014, the total number of enterprises in the zone reached 400, with total annual operating revenue of 20 billion yuan, representing a 20% increase; total industrial output value reached 15.3 billion yuan, an increase of 18%, of which the output value of large-scale industrial enterprises was 13.1 billion yuan, up 17%; fixed-asset investment of 5 million yuan or more totaled 4 billion yuan, a 21% increase; actual in place funds from investment promotion amounted to 6.6 billion yuan, a 33% increase; and fiscal revenue reached 710 million yuan, an 18% increase. The Anhui Huoshan Economic Development Zone is a key county-level development zone in Anhui Province and a provincial export and foreign exchange earnings base. It has been successively recognized as one of “Anhui Province’s Top Ten Development Zones for Investment Environment,” “Anhui Province’s Demonstration Base for New Industrialization,” “Anhui Province’s Innovative Park,” “Anhui Province’s Park with Harmonious Labor Relations,” “One of China’s Top 100 Demonstration Parks for Scientific Development,” “Anhui Province’s Demonstration Park for the Integration of Urbanization and Informatization,” and “Anhui Province’s Demonstration Park for Intellectual Property Development.”
