Tiantai County (tiāntāixiàn), belongs to Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is located in the east-central part of Zhejiang Province, bordering Sanmen County in the east, Linhai City in the south, Pan'an County in the west, Xinchang County in the north, Ninghai County in the northeast, and Xianju County in the southwest, with a total area of 14,316,600 square kilometers.In 2021, Tiantai County had a total household population of 598,800 people, and 30 ethnic minorities in addition to the Han Chinese. The government of Tiantai County is located at No.1 Yulong Road, Shifeng Street. At the end of 2022, it had jurisdiction over 3 streets, 7 towns, 5 townships, 374 village committees and 21 community committees, with a resident population of 470,000 and an urbanization rate of 55.3%.
In the Three Kingdoms, Zhaonan County was analyzed and set up Shiping County. In the third year of the Yonghe reign of the Jin Dynasty (347), Le'an County (present-day Xianju County) was established by analyzing Nanxiang. 1970, it was renamed Taizhou District. 1994, it was renamed Taizhou Municipality, to which Tiantai belongs. Tiantai is famous for its Buddhism, Taoism and landscape, and is the birthplace of the Tiantai Sect of Buddhism and the founding place of the Southern Sect of Taoism. It is a national health county, national ecological county, national eco-tourism area, national health city, the hometown of Chinese tea culture, the hometown of national Go, the hometown of Chinese oolong medicine, the hometown of Chinese famous tea, the hometown of Chinese tea culture, and the national key tea-producing counties. One of the earliest tea-producing areas in China, it is the source of "China's Tea Sea Route", and is known as "the source of tea in Jiangnan and the ancestor of tea in Korea and Japan". There are 4 national intangible cultural heritage lists, 15 provincial lists, 49 municipal lists and 135 county lists. There are 1 national insurance unit, 12 provincial insurance units and 42 county insurance units, totaling 55 units.
In 2022, Tiantai County will realize a GDP of 35.108 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 1.7% at comparable prices, a ratio of 5.1:39.7:55.2 for the three industries, and a per capita GDP (resident caliber) of 74,698 yuan.
